On September 30, 2017, the ceremony to hand over the two FFI flags from Les Sables d'Olonne to the museum took place.

The representatives of the UNC des Sables d'Olonne MM. Rocheteau (vice-president), Merceron (secretary), Garandeau (treasurer), who had had custody of it for two years. Thanks to them for sending us these two symbolic flags linked to the history presented in the museum.
The first flag is that of the 1st FFI Battalion of Vendée, made up mainly of the FFI volunteers from Les Sables d'Olonne. This unit of 804 men fought against the Saint-Nazaire Pocket from October 1944 to May 1945.
The second flag is that of the FFI of Les Sables d'Olonne and La Chaume, with the port of Les Sables and the tower of Arundel embroidered by hand.
These two flags will soon be presented to the public, above the scene of the museum showing the departure of the men of the 1st Battalion of Vendée towards the front of St-Nazaire.
